From the instructor:
I am Ashley Sprouse Erdely– a passionate educator, writing enthusiast, and lover of learning! I moved to the Gorge in 2005 to teach at Hood River Middle School where I co-founded the county's sixth-grade outdoor school program. I hold a BA in Education and Environmental Studies from Michigan State University and a MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Portland State University. After nearly a decade of teaching for Hood River Schools, I branched out of the classroom taking my passion for learning to new venues. I am a trained dyslexia specialist and have experience in environmental and experiential education as well as teaching in multi-aged classrooms. Through my private business, I now provide individual and semi-private tutoring, writing coaching, curriculum design, and educational consulting. One of my favorite things to do is lead educational workshops for kids, and in nature whenever possible. In addition to working with kids and raising my young daughter, I am also in the process of writing my first in a series of naturalist-style field guides for kids of the Pacific Northwest! I am honored and excited to be a part of the New School community and to work with your children.
