1st Annual Writer in Residence

We’re excited to announce our first “Writer in Residence“ for Hood River New School. Todd Mitchell is the award-winning author of many books for middle-grade readers as well as being an Assistant Professor and Director of Writing Pedagogy at Colorado State University. We’ll be doing a book club for his upcoming book, The Namer of Spirits (October 2021), which deals with themes of ecology, language, activism, and immigration. Our students will use book club to connect several curricular strands in writing, socials, and science, and will have an opportunity to talk to Todd about the book, ask him questions, and find out all about his writing process. We’re excited to share more details of this collaboration this fall.
