Current Openings

Middle School Core Teacher
Hood River New School, an independent day school for grades 6–8, seeks a dedicated and innovative teacher to join our team. Our mission is to empower middle school students with the skills to become resourceful learners and compassionate citizens.

The ideal candidate will teach a mixed-grade classroom of approximately 20 students, integrating Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies in a project-based curriculum. They will collaborate closely with colleagues to tailor instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student body, fostering a warm, supportive environment that encourages curiosity and growth.

Candidates should have a middle school teaching license (expired or out-of-state licenses also considered) and demonstrate a strong understanding of middle school learners. Preferred qualifications include bilingual English/Spanish skills and experience adapting curriculum for various learning styles.

One of the biggest advantages for me is the supportive atmosphere for teacher development. Here, I’m not siloed in my classroom; I have 4-5 hours of prep each week where I sit down and plan and reflect with my teaching partners, including our literacy specialist and other members of the support crew. I can push them to be their individual best because I have the time to develop deep knowledge of how they learn and what they need to succeed.
